Our Goal

To Create a Better Built Environment

The International Living Future Institute (ILFI) is a certification hub that helps people around the globe create beautiful, healthy spaces. In 2015, there was a significant uptake of our programs, a trend that has been steadily increasing over the past few years.

A New Leader

ILFI founder and CEO Jason F McLennan transitioned to Chair of the Board, and the Board of Directors promoted ILFI Executive Director, Amanda Sturgeon, FAIA to CEO.

New Program Takes Off

We launched the Living Product Challenge in 2014, and in 2015 we launched the first-ever Living Product Expo in Pittsburgh. 300+ attendees joined us to talk about sustainable manufacturing.

The LBC Continues to Grow

We celebrated the 300th project registration for the Living Building Challenge this year. We also saw a 33% increase in Certified projects. 12 projects crossed the finish line in 2015.

2015 Release: Living Product Challenge Standard

Using a similar structure as the Living Building Challenge and Living Community Challenge Standards, the LPC framework will help users to create products that are as beautiful and efficient as the natural world.
